The term “maghreb” refers to the North African nations of Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. Despite a common Arabic heritage, these nations have remained independent, only briefly united during the eight and twelfth centuries.

From September 1st through December 15th I’ll be living in Morocco, participating in a study abroad program focused on African migration to Europe. This blog is meant to serve as a travel log of sorts, and a depository for my thoughts on migration. I’ll have two cameras and a mini audio recorder with me as well, with the hope of visually and orally documenting my time in Morocco. And for those who have expressed interest in seeing my pictures, don’t fear, I’ll post them from time to time.
